Dylan The Great

Introduction
This is meant to me a digital gallery for all my creative pursuits, to show what I'm capable in every field of work.
Music and Film are my passions and no matter where I am in life I won't stop creating. My music is very unpredictable and each song below has a special place in my heart for the backstory behind it or just the vibes it bring when listening.

Take a little walk through my life, see what you think!
MUSIC
Track 1: 2THEMOON FEAT ziPbby
2THEMOONchanged everything for me. It was the most successful track from my Sophomore Album, Dummer World, but producer, Drop it Like Melo, copyrighted a sample taking down the single along with the album. Rereleasing the album without it didn't feel right. However, now, I’m rebuilding the instrumental from scratch, for my upcoming album, Ashes of Greatness.
Additonally: ziPbby was very enjoyable to work with, and the most communicative artist I've ever worked with.

Track 2: All of Me
All of Me was a defining moment for me as an artist. Preparing to release my first album, GRAVEYARD, this single came out beforehand to build momentum. It did exactly that, turning many of my peers' heads to listen in. To this day, several classmates still consider it their favorite song of mine.
With its sudden beat switch, pitching the soul sample up and adding heavier drums, it creates confidence. The opening lyrics say “If this song goes hard, then play it. Looking at me like a legend in making, don't wanna argue I'm right, just say it” I'm confident and back better than ever. This is reinforced later when I say "new flow sounding insane, you lion without the mane" which is also a double entendre (lion, lying).
As an early work, All of Me doesn’t have a clear theme the way my newer songs do, but it still effectively conveys raw energy and ambition the way any hype-up song should.
Track 3: Vibe Switch
Vibe Switch was literally a vibe switch for me, and shifted perspectives
on themusic listeners expected of me. Before, my music was explicitly harder-hitting,
high tempo rap, void of truth. I tended to "cap rap" and had some pretty inappropiate lyrics.
It's a story of fleeting young love. One side trying to distance themselves and avoid getting hurt from the inevtible goodbye, and the other side being disappointed by their hypocricy and optimsim. “Vibe switch, I can tell you lying from your high pitch. You got so much violence hiding deep behidn your eyelids." captures how she seemed cold and heartless, but only for protection. Additionally “I’m the one you want, or not. She mad I’m with the one I got” reveal her emotional contradiction. She claims to want us to go our seperate ways, but reacts contradictingly .
Track 4: Untitled
This song is too emotional for me to release it any time soon. So, will stay hidden. It’s by far my most personal song. Detailing my family's struggles during COVID, this song conveys the helplessness I felt seeing my father in dangers. Memory of thes events is hazy, but over the years I’ve pieced together with family. The shock felt in these moments was unbearable and nauseating
For years, this trauma remained unresolved, but it is now fully processed. It's intentionally raw and unpolished, and was written next to my dad on a flight. I first found my love for music during this time, so finishing this song was a cool full circle moment
Track 5: Pillar of Salt FEAT Nina Caprice
Pillar of Salt was a major creative leap and my most experimental tracks. Collaborating with fellow artist Nina Caprice. I met her while we both opened for the same artist at a local venue. Realizing we went the same school, we made an immediate connection. I wanted to aid her strengths while collaborating, which is what caused the unprecented sound selection connection.
When I asked her to collaborate, I wanted to build around her strengths, soft, emotional delivery and atmospheric tone, which led to choosing a more unconventional instrumental than my usual sound.
However, there’s also vulnerability with lyrics. “You helped me figure it out, and now it’s all my fault.... Remember us, don’t you miss it.” reflecting on guilt and longing for what was lost. This balance of pain and nostalgia, created something flawed but sincere. Pillar of Salt pushed me to experiment sonically while learning to become more true to myself , marking an important step forward in my growth as an artist
The song explores the toxicity and emotional aftermath of a breakup, the regrets, the self-doubt, and the memories that won’t quite fade. The title lyric, “You a pillar of salt, the bridges all been dissolved,” captures the bitterness that can follow sweetness.
